You should begin requesting estimations and researching companies for your move 6-8 weeks in advance; this will give you the time to see what your options are and what budgetary requirements you should be prepared for.

When possible you should request visual estimation 4-5 weeks prior to the move or in the case where a visual estimation is not available, find out the other options on how to get a more accurate estimation for your move.

We request 2 -4 weeks’ notice for the booking, to ensure that the appropriate arrangements can be made to ensure the smoothest transition possible.

Take the time to do your research, you will want to find a quality reputable company that isn’t afraid to put promises in writing, and that employs associates that are knowledgeable and experienced in the industry. Price shouldn’t be the only factor in your decision; though the market is competitive you still want to ensure that quality, reputation and dependability are the main reasons for choosing the best company for your needs.
If you have chosen to do your own packing, we do require all boxes to be packed and sealed prior to the movers arrival. We request the crews are left with clear paths in and out of rooms and doorways, and that there is no clutter left in the working space. This is not only for the safety of our staff, but the safety of your precious belongings as well. In the winter months it is very important that exterior steps, pathways and driveways are cleared of snow and ice.

If you have opted for the full packing service, we ask that only the items you choose for us to pack are left in the home, any items meant for disposal or donation should already be out of the home when the crew arrives.

Armour Van Lines offers storage in many major cities across the country and we are able to facilitate any short or long term storage needs you may have.
As specialists in residential and commercial moves, we prefer to leave the vehicle shipping to companies whose operations are solely around the safe transportation of vehicles. Please ask your rep for further details about how we can assist you in this process with our reputable partner companies!
Long distance moves are based on the actual scaled weight of your shipment. Once contacted you will be provided with a general estimation for the move. You should take advantage of your reps experience to gather as much information as you can provide to ensure you are properly prepared for the financial aspect of your move.

Local moves are based on an hourly rate, our hourly rate includes the labor and the truck.

Vehicle shipping costs are generated by our third party carrier, please speak with your rep for further details.

By allowing your rep to collect accurate information you can avoid any unpleasant surprises with your bill. Additional charges such as labor, handling, packing/materials, etc will be applied when necessary, your rep and the moving crew are always happy to explain to ensure you know what you are paying for. Remember the more information we have, the more information we can provide.
All moving companies are required, by law, to carry basic standard liability to be included in the cost of any transportation. This coverage is basic, being $0.60 per pound, per article. This means the coverage is based on the weight of the item, not on the value.

We recommend to all of our clients to speak with their personal insurance agent to see what kind of coverage you may already have included in your existing policy.

Packing:

Armour Van Lines offer a wide range of partial and full packing and crating services. Want to leave all the hassle to us? No problem! Even if you just have a few items that you would prefer to have done with that professional touch it’s never an issue. Ask one of our many experienced reps and they would be happy to walk you through all the options that are available.

Armour Van Lines carries a wide range of packing materials as well, whether you need a few dozen or a few hundred boxes we will help tailor the most suitable package of materials for the best price.

All moves include complimentary blanket wrapping of furniture items to ensure the safety of the items and the home.

All contents from dressers and cabinets should be emptied and packed. Not only to keep the contents safe, but the item itself
The government restricts the transportation of dangerous goods. Some prohibited items include: gasoline, propane tanks, oxygen tanks, fire extinguishers, ammunition, and certain cleaning supplies. There are exceptions that can be made in some cases, you MUST inform your rep and driver of every item you intend to include in your shipment that may pose any hazards.

Though we will ship live plants, we take no responsibility for the livelihood of the plants.

We are not able to take clients or live animals in our trucks for insurance reasons. It is recommended that you make the travel arrangements for yourself and your pets in advance of the move.
Basic furniture items will be disassembled at no charge to ensure the safest possible shipping. Though reassembly is not included, please speak with your rep about any item you may need assistance with to get the cost of the service.
Televisions, pictures, wall hangings and window dressing should be taken off the mounts/walls prior to the crew arrival and the items should be prepared for shipping.
Most appliances need some special care to be prepared for shipping, it is best to have a licensed professional come in to prepare the item(s) for the move. Please remember this suggestion is for your protection and not required, mechanical equipment that has not been serviced by a professional will be at a higher risk of internal/mechanical damage. All appliances must be emptied and cleaned for shipping.
The planning and packing is over, now for the move itself

The day prior to the scheduled moving date you will receive a call from the local dispatch, during this call you will be asked to confirm the information provided at time of the booking, we will ask questions to ensure you are prepared for the crew and you will be given the time window in which to expect the movers.

Should you have special timing requirements (such as elevators or travel arrangements) it is your responsibility to inform your rep 1 week prior to the pickup date, so we are able to accommodate your restrictions.

Though recommended that the shipper is present throughout the pickup and delivery process it is not required, should you not be able to be there we suggest making arrangements for a family member or trusted friend to be there on your behalf to provide instructions for the crew and to answer any questions the crew may have.
Armour Van Lines has a strict inventory tracking system in place. At the time of the pickup the men will create an item by item inventory list of all the items that are picked up from your home, each of your items will have color coded, numbered tags affixed to the item itself, the numbers are in correspondence with the list created during the pickup. Our crew will give you a copy of this so you are able to do a proper inventory count at the delivery time.
Our services are payable at the time of the delivery, prior to the offloading taking place. We have many payment methods available to our clients. We accept cash, e-transfers, certified cheques, bank drafts, money orders. We also accept Visa and MasterCard.
The crew will place the furniture items in the rooms you request, boxes will be placed in a convenient area to allow you easy access while unpacking
At the time of the delivery if you notice any damage you should let your rep know right away, your rep will instruct you on how to complete the claims process. All claims must be submitted within a certain time frame of the delivery
